Voting day
Today, finally, is Election day. I decided to go early and get it over with, and got to my polling place about 6:45 prior to its opening at 7 a.m. There were already about 100 people in line. Once I got in, I was lucky to discover that they’d divided their registration book into surnames by A-L and M-Z. There were vastly more people in the first set than the second set. I don’t know if there are just fewer people with surnames from M-Z or we’re a group of slackers, but it meant that I was the 69th person to vote.
Just off campus there’s a rock on a small triangle of land where trolley cars used to turn. It is painted nearly every day by random groups of students. It was appropriately decorated for the big day.
