囧: Jiong3, or Chinese emoticons
According to this article, an old Chinese character is being repurposed as an emoticon, thanks to its iconic resemblance to a human face.
囧 (Jiong3), is a very old Chinese character. It’s present in Wenlin,
but there are no words in the dictionary containing it. The character
is used in 莔 (ying1), which also is used in no words in that dictionary.
Interesting.
