Budget-cutting at U of M: trimming the fat
from an email message I received today:
“M-Stores will eliminate its custom meat-cutting service and will make additional staff reductions in other parts of the organization in order to increase efficiency.”
This raises many questions in my mind, the answers to which I’m not at all sure I really want.

So there was a plan for Iraq…
This is a very interesting article about what went wrong in Iraq. It argues quite convincingly that the argument that there was no plan for the aftermath of invading that country is wrong. There was, instead, a plan of devastating consistency, although it didn’t work out quite as planned. I can only hope that this is enough to thoroughly and finally discredit the thinking that lay behind it, although that’s probably too much to hope for.
