Timely Snow

Last night I watched a pretty forgetable movie, Point of No Return, on T.V. using the “on demand” feature of our cable TV service. The character liked a singer, Nina Simone, with whom I wasn’t familiar. Thanks to Rhapsody, I was able to listen to her, and she’s terrific. She has a haunting version of the song “Sinnerman” that has a music video illustrated by a man running in a race on a track while experiencing the seven deadly sins.

She died in 2003, but her songs have been featured in a number of popular movies (not that I’d seen them) singing various songs (e.g., Bridget Jone’s diary, The Thomas Crown Affair, Stealing Beauty,and Before Sunset).

So maybe it wasn’t such a bad movie after all.
