I understand the University of Illinois basketball team has made it into the penultimate round of the championship series. I haven’t watched any basketball in quite a while—this is a picture from the last game I saw, courtesy of the American Memory collection, but I don’t imagine things have changed very much since then. A number of people I know will be very pleased at this development. I congratulate them on their team’s success, and I can honestly say that my move northward has not in any sense lessened my attachment to the fortunes of the Fighting Illini sports teams.
